A.A. Degree in Music
B.S. in Elementary Education
Graduate work in Curriculum and Instruction and Women's Studies.

I taught grades 6, 7, and 8, then began a career in Early Childhood spending 10 years with Head Start as a teacher, then education coordinator for the 7 county program. I then became an Early Childhood trainer for Child Care Resource and Referral at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. As a life-long Lutheran, I believe God had a definite plan for me to become a teacher at St. Paul's Lutheran School. It has and continues to be a blessing beyond compare.

I'm married to Duane. We have no children, but our family includes our dog Sophie, and our hearing service dog, Daisy.

What I like best about teaching is watching children learn about Jesus and seeing them grow in faith.

Donna Katzing

My name is Donna Katzing. I was baptized, confirmed, and married in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod and have been a member all my life. I earned a Master of Science degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Central Missouri State University (UCM). I also have a Bachelor of Science degree in education and an Associate of Science degree in child development. I have been teaching children for over thirty years. Twenty-four of those years were spent in kindergarten. My training from various workshops are in the following areas: project construct, reading for success, literacy model, math their way, and investigations in math as well as the more traditional basal reading and math programs. All of these programs have helped to make me a strong, well-rounded teacher. I am very knowledgeable of the kindergarten child and truly love to teach them!

Experience: 20+years

The past 6 years of my teaching experience have been in first and second grade at St. Paul's. It is a thrill to watch the children learn and progress so much in these early years. Learning about Jesus and learning to read are two vital parts of the 1st and 2nd grade curriculum. My classroom is full of books, as I seek to weave literacy into all areas of the curriculum.

We use the Saxon math program at St. Paul's. This program provides constant review to help children retain the knowledge and skills they learn.

Each child is a unique individual created by God, so meeting the needs of each individual child is important--helping him or her to develop his or her interests and talents, no matter what the subject area.
